I had dental surgery monday. And what an adventure it was. Here’s the scoop. I had two root canals done on my front two teeth in january since I’ve had seven trauma impacts to them over the years. The nerves and the roots had died as a result, and they had to be replaced with cement filling. That’s a root canal. Ok, so after the root canals are done, one gum over one of my front teeth starts to recede, and it goes pretty high up until it exposes a lot of the tooth thats not supposed to be there. Essentially, this one tooth has no gum. Problem. So turns out I need to get the tooth extracted, bone replaced in my upper jaw, gum scraped from the roof of my mouth and grafted onto my receding gumline, then titanium drilled up into the cavity to act as a new tooth. And here are the pictures. I may have been one of the only patients they’ve had to take camera phone pictures of their own surgery while nearly unconscious.
Post-op. Never felt better.
Thanks to everyone who came by afterwords to my misery party and watched me take more drugs.
